La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Three Hundred & Sixty Four

August 30, 2018

Dear friends,

Last night, Karen and I, along with our daughter Bethany, visited my parents in Montreal to celebrate my mother’s birthday. While we were there, one of my cousins phoned from California. It always amazes me how we can talk to people (and now see them on cell phones and computers) all over the world and their voices sound like they’re right beside us!

It was forty years ago yesterday that I returned to Quebec after spending fourteen months in Europe with Operation Mobilization. I loved being overseas, but wanted to share the gospel with people in my native province. After working in the business office of the Gazette in Montreal, I joined Global Outreach Mission. At that time, it was estimated that only 0.5% of the population of Quebec had a personal relationship with Christ. Since then, a number of people have moved to Quebec to serve the Lord and new churches are being established.

On Sunday, Karen and I had the joy of sharing our ministry in the Église Évangélique Associée de Verdun. When we were there three years ago, a friendly man named Fernand helped us carry boxes of literature and other materials from our radio follow-up office. We were saddened to learn that he died a month ago. I told the congregation on Sunday that he was the first person to offer me a water bottle when we visited the church on a hot summer day. Earlier this month, we received the sad news that Marion Trafford died. She was a dedicated servant of the Lord, devoted to her husband, Pastor David Trafford (who officiated at our wedding in 1981), her family, her church and others.

In my message on Sunday, I shared some thoughts regarding our motivation for missions. The first prerequisite is to be converted. If you are reading this blog and have never asked God’s forgiveness for your sins, don’t delay any longer. Confess your sins to God and receive His gift of salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Secondly, we must be convinced that Jesus rose from the dead. The lives of the disciples were transformed when they saw the risen Christ. Thomas (whose name is linked with the word “doubting” because he expressed his desire to see the wounds on Jesus’ body for himself because he wasn’t with the other disciples when Jesus appeared to them) went to India to proclaim the gospel. Peter, who denied that he knew Jesus three times, preached to multitudes of people, quoting Old Testament prophecies about Christ.

In his Study Bible, Dr. David Jeremiah answers the question: “So how do we know the Resurrection really happened?” He writes: “Jewish officials panicked because thousands were following Christ. They heard Jesus predict that He would rise on the third day, and so when His body was placed in a tomb, they had to make sure He was put away for good! So the chief priests and Pharisees gathered and asked Pilate to ‘command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night, and steal Him away …’ Pilate agreed, so they secured the tomb, in part by ‘setting the guard’ (Matthew 27:63-66).

Dr. Jeremiah continues: “A Roman guard unit consisted of 4 to 16 men. Each soldier was trained to protect six feet of ground. Normally, four men were stationed immediately in front of the object they were to protect, while the other 12 slept in a semicircle in front of these four. Every four hours, a new unit of four was awakened, and those who had been keeping watch went to sleep. This routine went on around the clock. To steal what these guards were protecting, thieves would first have to walk over those who were asleep and then deal with the guard who were not.” To believe that someone stole the body of Jesus from the tomb is as ludicrous as to believe that hunting for chocolate eggs is the real meaning of Easter. Lord willing, we will examine the proofs for the resurrection of Christ further next week.

Scripture for the weekend: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV)

Thought for the weekend: “And above all, the greatest credential that Jesus was a Prophet of God was the fact that God raised Him from the dead. He was crucified and buried; the third day He arose from the dead. It has been well said that the resurrection of Christ is the best attested fact of history. It is attested in the Scriptures and also by contemporary secular writers, such as the great Jewish historian, Josephus. This man testified of his personal faith in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.” – G. Christian Weiss (from his book “The Man Everyone Should Know”)
