Aches and Praise Three Hundred & Seventy Eight

Dear friends,

You know how pastors get a break sometimes and guest speakers fill the pulpit? Well, this week, I have invited my youngest daughter to be the guest blogger in this space. In hopes that her youthful enthusiasm and insights gained while studying at McGill University will be like jumping in the pool (or lake or other body of water) on a hot day, I present Bethany Grace:

The highest privilege of working as a pediatric hospital social worker is witnessing “the gift of life” be given back to children. This is accomplished through doctors who work tirelessly to extract brain tumors, investigate rare genetic disorders and pursue the cure for cystic fibrosis. As the Christmas season approaches, we are surrounded by the spirit of giving. From crowded malls to your Amazon shopping cart, we are absorbed in a world that expresses its love and appreciation towards others through gifts. And yet, we know the One true giver of life. He was not wrapped in shiny paper but in swaddling cloth. Christ, our Saviour was sent to offer us eternal salvation. His birth, ministry, death and resurrection were the ultimate gifts to mankind. Let us remember this holiday season that it is our calling to exemplify the hope that we are given through Jesus.

Scripture for the weekend: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)

Thought for the weekend: “Without a heart transformed by the grace of Christ, we just continue to manage external and internal darkness.” – Matt Chandler

By His grace,

Steve
