Aches and Praise Four Hundred & Twenty Three

Dear friends,

If you have been reading my blog posts for a long time, you may remember that I like to quote from publications of Radio Bible Class and Our Daily Bread Ministries. Recently, my mother gave Karen and me a book of devotional readings entitled “Together with God: Psalms” edited by Dave Branon. Yesterday’s devotional, written by Richard DeHaan, included a remarkable story that was told by Robert L. Sumner: “A man suffered through an explosion, and his face was badly disfigured. He lost his eyesight as well as both hands. He was just a new Christian, and one of his greatest disappointments was that he could no longer read the Bible.

Then he heard about a lady in England who read Braille with her lips. Hoping to do the same, he sent for some books of the Bible in Braille. Much to his dismay, however, he discovered that the nerve endings in his lips had been destroyed by the explosion. One day, as he brought one of the Braille pages to his lips, his tongue happened to touch a few of the raised characters and he could feel them.” The man went on to read the entire Bible four times!

We celebrated Thanksgiving Day on Monday and were reminded of how much we have for which to be thankful. On Tuesday, my mother had a cataract removed from her right eye and she can now see much better than before. What a privilege it is to live in a country where medical care is so good! We are also blessed to have access to literature and many media sources that provide stories like the one cited above. For information on how you can purchase “Together with God: Psalms” please visit: https://ourdailybreadpublishing.org/nw924.html.

May we determine to devote all of our strength to declaring the glory of God in our generation!

Scripture for the weekend: “Some boast in chariots, and some in horses; but we will boast in the name of the Lord, our God.” Psalm 20:7 (NASB)

Thought for the weekend: “The Bible is the best gift God ever gave to man.” – Abraham Lincoln (quoted in “Together with God: Psalms” edited by Dave Branon, used by permission)

By His grace,
