Aches and Praise Four Hundred & Three

May 30, 2019

Dear friends,

Yesterday we received an email from Karen’s cousin in Florida informing us that his father had fallen and was taken to the hospital in Stratford. Please pray for Uncle Ted, who has a brace on his neck and is in considerable pain. He will celebrate 90 years young in August, Lord willing.

Earlier this week, I received an email from a friend who wrote that he was sending me an article to “lift my spirits.” We hadn’t spoken for at least a week and he didn’t know that I was sneezing and blowing my nose a lot due to allergies and a cold. Compared to a possible broken neck, like Uncle Ted may have suffered, my irritations are very minor. After reading the article about how God worked in the life of Joseph in the Old Testament, I was encouraged and thankful for this reminder of God’s amazing love and grace.

This afternoon, Pastor Michel Martel came to the studio in our office to record messages that will be aired in the coming months. I also received a phone call from a lady in Montreal who has followed Bible studies from our office for many years. Please pray for Manon (pseudonym) as she recently received some disappointing news.

If you live near Grace Church in Verdun (on 5th Avenue) and would like to learn more about the Old Testament, you are invited to attend a one-hour (and a bit) class this Sunday at 6 p.m. We will be studying the book of Leviticus. Looking ahead, our colleagues, Teddy and Linda Hoare, and we will be having an OPEN HOUSE at 33 rue Principale in Châteauguay on Saturday, June 15 from Noon to 5 p.m. To God be the glory, great things He has done and is doing!

Scripture for the weekend: “and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4 (NASB)

Thought for the weekend: “The Jewish sacrificial system is sometimes said to have its origin in Israel’s escape from slavery in Egypt, but its deepest roots actually lie all the way back in the garden of Eden, in the sentence of death God pronounced over Adam and Eve when they chose to rebel against him.” – Greg Gilbert (from his book “Who Is Jesus?”)

By His grace,

Steve
