La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Four Hundred & Fifty Nine

June 25, 2020

Dear friends,

Recently, I asked prayer for Jean-Pierre, who has been under psychiatric care for many years. I was more concerned about him than usual because he had left a message on the answering machine in our office, asking me to not phone him. In the past week, he has phoned me several times and sounds more happy than he did a couple of weeks ago. He has been reading the gospel of Matthew and hoping to move to another facility. Thank you for praying for him. Having visited him in two long-term care facilities in the past few years, I know a little about where he lives, but I can`t imagine what it is like for him to be in the same surroundings day after day.

Last Sunday, our family celebrated Father’s Day. Karen and I (and our daughter, Bethany) visited my parents in the morning, before talking to our adult children via Zoom. When I was growing up, I wondered if my father would live as long as his grandfather did (90). Well, he has surpassed Papa by six years and is still going! This afternoon, I drove him to a bank and on the way, I saw a sign outside the library that has been closed since the pandemic arrived in Montreal: The sign read: “serving young people for more than 40 years.” I would love to tell the librarians that they are also serving a man who still loves to read at the age of 96.

I am doubly blessed, as my mother is an avid reader and passes books to Karen and me. One of the books that she gave us this month is “Hope in a Chaotic World” by the late Ray C. Stedman. In the first chapter, Ray writes:  “The Thessalonian letters of the apostle Paul were written to a young church struggling to survive in an extremely dangerous world. Within twenty years of their writing, the whole of the ancient East was convulsed in warfare and rebellion … We too are living in dangerous times … Many today sense an approaching world crisis.” Since Stedman wrote these words in 1990, many changes in technology, including the development of the Internet, have brought the world closer. Yet, as we witness mounting tensions between superpowers, we can`t help but wonder how long it will be before the prophecies in the Bible regarding the last days are fulfilled.

Stedman tells how, in 1972, a group of international industrial leaders and thinkers, called the Club of Rome, suggested six proposals for the survival of humanity. The first proposal was: “The survival of this planet necessitates new forms of thinking that will lead to a fundamental revision of human behavior and, by implication, of the entire fabric of present-day society.” The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)    . Some people are reluctant or refuse to admit that they sin, but the truth is that we all stand condemned before a holy God. No amount of good works can eradicate our selfish and evil ways. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can wash away our sins by His blood, which He shed on the cross of Calvary some 2,000 years ago.

I am blessed to know a man named Nicholas who was born in Thessaloniki, Greece and moved to Montreal as an adult. Thinking about how he loves the Lord and is eager to study His Word helps me picture the believers in the first-century church in northern Greece. In the second chapter of his first letter to the Thessalonian believers, the apostle Paul wrote that he and Silvanus and Timothy were exhorting  and encouraging and imploring them as a father would his own children (v.11). Although we may not have always obeyed our earthly father, let us seek to please our heavenly Father in all that we say and do.

Scripture for the weekend: “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 (NASB)

Thought for the weekend: “Jesus taught us that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord our God. But there is always something that must come before that, something many people do not seem to understand. God asks us to love Him only because He first loved us.” – Ray C. Stedman (from his book “Hope in a Chaotic World”)

By His grace,

Steve
