La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Four Hundred & Eighty Six

December 30, 2020

Dear friends,

I have been enjoying reading two of the gifts that I received for Christmas – one is a book by James Duthie, who appears regularly on The Sports Network in Canada; the other is quoted at the end of this blog post. In “Beauties,” Duthie shares a wonderful story about a girl in St. Louis named Laila Anderson, who battled for her life as her favourite hockey team battled for the Stanley Cup. When Laila was diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH, she was only the 15th child to ever have HLH only in the brain. To stop the spread of this disease, where immune cells grow out of control, Laila’s doctor began giving her chemo in October 2018. That was the beginning of another season for the St. Louis Blues, who joined the National Hockey League (NHL) when it expanded from six teams to twelve teams in 1967.

On January 2, 2019, Laila went into isolation to receive heavy doses of chemo, in preparation for a bone marrow transplant. Her hockey heroes were experiencing the blues emotionally, as they found themselves in last place, 31st out of 31 teams in the NHL. The comeback that Laila and the Blues were to experience in the following months is not only amazing, it is heartwarming. After watching every game in her isolation, Laila learned from her mother, Heather, that she would be able to leave isolation for the first time in four months – to watch the Blues play the Winnipeg Jets in the third game of their playoff series. Laila kept getting better and the Blues kept winning. In what some would call a double miracle, Laila was in the stands in the arena in Boston in June 2019 to watch her team win Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final! In December, Laila met the nineteen-year-old student who donated his bone marrow; he wasn’t a hockey fan then, but he is now.

The Christmas story is filled with jaw-dropping events and one account was recorded by a doctor. Dr. David Jeremiah writes: “When a physician sets aside his practice to pursue a venture that will absorb his time for years to come – perhaps the rest of his life – he has likely yielded to some truly momentous calling. So it was for the first-century doctor named Luke. The great passion of Luke’s life was writing a two-volume history of the founder of Christianity and the explosive growth of that dynamic new force known as the church of Jesus Christ. Those books were the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts.” Did you know that Luke is the Bible’s only Gentile author? Using skills that were valuable in treating patients, such as asking questions, examining evidence, and diagnosing problems, Luke provides his readers with more than enough material to convince them of the divinity of Jesus and God’s love for mankind.

I find it impossible to imagine what Laila Anderson went through as she fought the disease that attacked her brain. I also can’t understand how anyone can look at the stars and the complexity of the human body and believe that they are the products of chance. The Bible reveals that Jesus is fully human and fully God. He loves you and me more than we can imagine. As we enter a new year on the first of January, may we give God the place He deserves in our life: first!

Scripture for the weekend: “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 (NASB)

Thought for the weekend: “Who, then, are those to whom this joyful news is to be proclaimed? Those who are faint-hearted and feel the burden of their sins, like the shepherds, to whom the angels proclaim the message, letting the great lords in Jerusalem, who do not accept it, go on sleeping.” – Martin Luther (quoted in “The Characters of Christmas” by Daniel Darling, published by Moody Publishers, Chicago, Illinois)

By His grace,

Steve
