La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

Action Mondiale d’Évangélisation (Québec) Inc is the name of the Québec incorporation of MissionGO

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Three Hundred & Forty Two

March 27, 2018

Dear friends,

If you are married, are you able to say that you are enjoying a healthy marriage filled with love or are you experiencing tension and difficulties in your marriage? I received an email recently from someone who is in the latter category. This prompted me to see what books I could recommend or send to help improve the couple’s relationship.

A week ago, I started reading an excellent book entitled “How to Talk So Your Husband Will Listen” by Rick Johnson. You can read the first chapter of this book online at: http://www.cornerstonechristiansupply.com/firstchapter.asp?mode=view&index=1957. Karen found this book in the airport in Houston, on our way home from the Missions conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma. When I heard that she found the book in the Houston airport, I was surprised because I had a mindset that great books would not be on display in airports. Was I wrong! It was also encouraging to hear an announcement being made every few minutes, telling where the chapel was located in the airport.

In last week’s blog, I wrote about the changing influence of the church in Quebec since the 1960s. One institution that has seen very dramatic changes is that of marriage, where rising rates of divorce and common-law relationships are resulting in soaring numbers of children being raised by a single parent. For more information on this, please visit: http://www.stat.gouv.qc.ca/statistiques/sante/bulletins/portrait-200810-mono_an.pdf.

One book that I found in our radio follow-up office lending library is the French version of “I Want My Marriage to be Better” by Dr. Henry Brandt and Phil Landrum. The third chapter starts by describing how one couple “thought that marriage would eliminate misunderstandings, loneliness and the feeling of emptiness. Their honeymoon brought them a bitter disillusionment.” The authors go on to describe the invisible walls that go up as resentment, impatience and other self-centred attitudes grow.

Besides the emotional pain caused by failed or failing relationships, many people have a “bad taste in their mouth” with regard to people who abuse their positions of authority.  Last weekend, Montreal’s leading French-language newspaper ran a story about the terrible abuse that Innu children suffered at the hands of a priest in Quebec many years ago. We may consider ourselves much better than someone like that priest, but if we are honest, we must admit that we have fallen short of God’s standards.

The best place to discover what God requires of mankind in general and marriage partners, in particular, is the Bible. May we seek to know God’s truth and share His love with others, as we remember the supreme sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross and His triumph over sin and death.

Scripture for the weekend: “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.” Hebrews 9:27-28 (NIV)

Thought for the weekend:  “The glorious fact that the empty tomb proclaims to us is that life for us does not stop when death comes. Death is not a wall, but a door. And eternal life, which may be ours now, by faith in Christ, is not interrupted when the soul leaves the body, for we live on … and on.” – Peter Marshall (from his book “The First Easter”)

By His grace,

Steve
