Testimonials

« I took the Mailbox Club courses when I was a child.   I remember being very excited to receive each next lesson as it came in the mail.  The courses gave me fundamental knowledge about God, the Bible and Jesus at a young age.  I am grateful to my parents for putting me through the courses. »

                                  Ryan – Quebec, CANADA

« The lessons have brought me closer to the Lord in knowing what he has done for us.  Since I have been taking these lessons, I will give you one of my testimonies.  I was diagnosed with lung cancer and through a lot of prayer I am now in remission and I am giving all the praise to my Lord.  It also taught me how much the Lord loves us and forgives us, no matter what we do.  And oh, how I love him.  I am so glad I was saved by his grace and know him as my Saviour. »

                                  Edna – Wisconsin, USA

« I am french-speaking but I decided to take the English courses because for me, the words really touched my heart.  When I’d work on the Bible courses it was  a time of peace, and I felt closer to the Lord.  The courses are easy but there is so much to learn at the same time.  I won’t forget all the things that I learned from them.  It has helped me to be able to share the Word with others.  I brought my parents to the Lord before they died.  My son wanted to die and I shared with him and know that he believes in God.  The courses are a wonderful gift. »

                                  Ginette – Quebec, CANADA

« I have been taking these Bible study courses since my early teens and now I’m in my thirties!  They’ve equipped me with wisdom, truth, encouragement and hope to faithfully serve the Lord.  They’ve kept me from Satan’s deceit and given me a deeper understanding of God’s love.  Praise be to God for this wonderful ministry! »

                                Heidi – Quebec, CANADA

« These courses mean everything to me.  I feel lost when I don’t have one to complete.  I wait in total anticipation for a new one to come in the mail.  It is amazing how much I learn.  Always, always, looking forward to learning more. »

                                Suzete – Ontario, CANADA

« I am Portuguese Canadian. English is my second language.  I really enjoy working on the Bible Courses, but I have difficulty with the English, reading and writing because I never went to school to learn.  I have learned English through my Bible study.  I am very happy with the friends I met during my study.  Every time I read or talk about the Bible study I feel like I am talking to GOD because I really believe in Him.  He’s the source of my life. »

La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of Global Outreach Mission which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of Global Outreach Mission representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal, six stations in northern Ontario, seven stations in Atlantic Canada and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of Global Outreach Mission.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

4. WE BELIEVE that all men have sinned and for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

Aches and Praise Three Hundred & Ninety Five

Dear friends,

Although social media offers opportunities to be in contact with people around the world electronically, it seems that people spend less time actually seeing or talking to friends than was the case in previous generations. I recently saw an interesting statement: “God has no phone, but I talk to him. He has no Facebook, but He is still my friend, He doesn’t have a twitter, but I still follow Him.” This reminded me of a bumper sticker that I saw on a car years ago: “Wise men still seek Him.”

This week some friends of our colleagues, Teddy and Linda, came to visit them at the ministry house in Châteauguay. It was neat to learn that they live close to Karen’s sisters in British Columbia. At the Bell Centre on Tuesday, I met a lady who lives in Tampa, Florida, who came to see her daughter and attend the hockey game together. I sat next to a man and his son and resisted the urge to ask him if he was from Australia or New Zealand, when I heard his accent. Low-cost travel has made it possible for people to go to far-away places quickly.

One of the many interesting things about the Bible is the way that human weaknesses are revealed, including how one of Jesus’ disciples claimed to not know his Master. In John 18, we read that Peter and another disciple (thought by many scholars to have been John, the author of the fourth gospel) followed Jesus after Judas brought a detachment of troops and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees to arrest Him in the Garden of Gethsemane. Demonstrating his impetuous nature, Peter struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. He then denied that he was one of the disciples of Jesus three times.

We see more of this story in Luke’s account of the events that led to the crucifixion of Jesus. In Luke 22:34, Jesus declared: “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.” Interestingly, the third denial came after a relative of Malchus (whose ear was cut off by Peter) emphatically said: “Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galileen” (v. 59). Peter’s accent was different than that of the people from Jerusalem.

Despite Peter’s denials, the Lord continued to love him, as He does all people. His death on the cross demonstrated how much He loves us. As we approach Easter, let’s remember that He knows all about us and loves us more than we can imagine.

Scripture for the weekend: “But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”Luke 22:32 (NKJV)

Thought for the weekend: “What profound, searing emotion Jesus must have felt as His arrest drew near. The Greek words translated sorrowful and deeply distressed (Matthew 26:37) refer to intense grief and extreme anguish. The phrase even to death is found often in the Septuagint and refers to a sorrow so overpowering that it almost kills, This intense anguish is further proof that Jesus was completely human as well as fully divine.” – Dr. David Jeremiah (from his Study Bible)

By His grace,

Steve

How to have eternal life

Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.
