La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise Six Hundred & Twenty One

August 4, 2023

Dear friends,

Does it seem like the summer is going by quickly? Yesterday, we shopped at a fruit stand and got corn on the cob. I thought that we used to get corn in September, but some delicious corn is already available. I found an article entitled “It’s About Time” in cleaning our place. Here are some excerpts:

“The calendar was invented to help measure ‘time.’ An early Egyptian calendar determined, by the changes in the seasons, consisted of 365 days, divided into 12 months of 30 days each, with 5 supplementary days added at the end of each year. The ancient Greeks recorded the year according to real lunar months. At one time the Romans had a year of 10 months!

The last four months in our calendar betray their relationship to the numbers 7 to 10. For example, September comes from the Latin ‘septum’ (or seven). October and November mean 8th and 9th, while December stems from ‘decimus’ meaning 10th and also giving us our English word ‘decimal.’

Around 200 BC, Rome’s chief priests of religion held the power to regulate the calendar. When more money was needed in taxes, a month could be shortened here and there – making taxes come due sooner … If ‘higher ups’ wished to get rid of a bad official, they could knock a few days or weeks out of the calendar and thus shorten his term!

By the time Julius Caesar came to the emperorship, the calendar was so mixed up that in one instance, Autumn began in January! Julius Caesar, taking time ‘by the hair,’ and enlisting the aid of an eminent Egyptian astronomer, adopted the Egyptian calendar which he had encountered during his military campaign in that country. Called the Julian Calendar, the yea consisted of 12 months, totalling 365 days and every 4th (or ‘leap year’) having an extra day! Incidentally, the month ‘July’ received its name from Julius! Later, Emperor Augustus, after whom ‘August’ was named, wanting his 30 day month to be as long as Julius’ 31 day period, took a day from February and added it to August!

A year is not exactly 365 and ¼ days, but 11 minutes and 14 seconds less. So by 1582, the calendar was ‘off’ by 11 days. In that year, Pope Gregory decreed that October 4th should be followed by October 15th. Not until 1752 did Britain and her colonies adopt the Gregorian calendar. According to family records, George Washington was born on February 11, 1732, but on the changed calendar, it became the well-known date we celebrate now – February the 22nd.

Since present calculation makes the calendar only 26 seconds over every year, our descendants by the year 4905 will have an extra day on their hands and they’ll have to decide what to do with it!”

The above was given in a message by Pastor Art Larson at a Global Outreach Mission conference in 1996. You can listen to some of his sermons at: https://www.missiongo-radio.org/sermons/. May we determine to walk with the Lord and share His love with many others.

Scripture for the weekend: “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16 (NKJV)

Thought for the weekend: “Satan tempts people to bring out the worst; God tests people to help bring out the best.” – Dr. David Jeremiah (from his Study Bible in reference to Hebrews 11)
