La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise Four Hundred & Ninety Five

March 5, 2021

Dear friends,

Yesterday, while I was driving my parents to a clinic in Montreal, where they received their first dose of a vaccine against COVID-19, I reminded them of the snow storm that hit the largest city in Quebec fifty years ago. I said that the snow began falling at around Noon on Friday and kept falling until Sunday evening. I was thinking that it was so nice that the sky was clear and the roads were not icy or snow-covered yesterday. A lot has changed in the past fifty years. You can see some differences in the following report about the “storm of the century”: https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/the-storm-of-the-century-began-50-years-ago-today-and-lasted-for-days. In looking on the Internet this morning, I discovered that I had remembered things differently than what had happened. The snow storm that hit southern Quebec from March 3 to 5, 1971 began on a Wednesday and ended on a Friday. So, today marks exactly 50 years since that huge snow storm ended and I now know that what I thought for so many years was wrong. I think it’s because I began shovelling on Friday afternoon and didn’t stop much until Sunday evening.

How many times do we think we know something and later discover that we were wrong? It might be more than we care to admit. As we look at the book of Proverbs in the Bible, we see many wise sayings by Solomon, whose reputation was proclaimed far and wide. The queen of Sheba (modern-day Yemen) heard about the fame of Solomon and went to “test him with hard questions” (1 Kings 10:1). What she asked Solomon is not recorded, but after “she spoke with him about all that was in her heart” (v. 3), the monarch proclaimed: “It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom. However I did not believe the words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed the half was not told me … Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel!” (vv. 6-9).

In the first book of the New Testament, Matthew reports two different reactions to Jesus’ healing of a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute (12:22-24): the multitudes were amazed and the Pharisees attributed Jesus’ power to Beelzebub. Then, we read: “But Jesus knew their thoughts” (v. 25). We may be able to fool some people, but we will never fool the Lord. When some scribes and Pharisees told Jesus that they wanted to see a sign, He answered them by citing the sign of the prophet Jonah: “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (v. 40). Jesus then said that the men of Nineveh and the queen of the South “will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it” (vv. 41-42), exposing the sin of unbelief in the hearts of the scribes and Pharisees who rejected the teaching of “a greater than Solomon.”

When I was in kindergarten, I painted a large whale and was surprised when my teacher told me that it was going to hang in the city hall of Saint-Laurent, a borough on the island of Montreal. I drove by that city hall yesterday and didn’t think about that painting, but many other times I have thought about it. I did not do much painting after that, preferring to write instead. If you are reading this and wondering if you are like the scribes and Pharisees that did not embrace the teachings of the Lord Jesus, I urge you to read the Scriptures and ask God to transform your life. Whether you remember everything you did in the past accurately or not is far less important than what you do today and from now on. May God help us to see things as He sees them and to live for His glory!

Scripture for the weekend: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; for whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.” Proverbs 3:11-12 (NKJV)

Thought for the weekend: “God says you can be one of two kinds of stars. You can be like the ones described in the book of Jude: ‘Wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever’ (Jude 13 KJV); or you can choose a considerably brighter future and become the kind of star Paul describes in Philippians 2:15-16: ‘Children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life’ (NIV).” – Dr. David Jeremiah (from his Study Bible)

By His grace,

Steve
