La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Three Hundred & Sixteen

Dear friends,

Two weeks ago, I wrote about a misunderstanding that occurred when Jimmy Carter was the U.S. President, involving military information that could have triggered a war with Russia. In 1941, the U.S. joined other countries in the Second World War after 190 Japanese planes from 6 aircraft carriers attacked the South Pacific island of Oahu, Hawaii. This attack resulted in the  sinking of four U.S. battleships and two destroyers, the deaths of 2,113 Navy and Marine troops, and the wounding of 987 people. December 7, 1941 began peacefully in Pearl Harbor, but that Sunday ended in terrible destruction and death.

In his study guide entitled “Living Above the Level of Mediocrity,” Charles Swindoll writes: “As a Christian, you wake up to a Pearl Harbor of your own every morning. But it doesn’t take place on an island in the south Pacific. Your enemy sets his sights on a small harbor where your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes are serenely docked, tied to their moorings, seemingly safe. On any day, Satan can launch a surprise attack that within minutes can torpedo your testimony, char your character, and sink your spiritual life.”

How can we guard against being a victim of Satan’s attacks? Of utmost importance is to know the Word of God. As the psalmist wrote: “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11). In his letter to the believers in Ephesus, the apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, instructs believers how to get dressed spiritually – “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:11).

Chuck Swindoll provides the following analysis of the word schemes in Ephesians 6:11 – “The word schemes in verse 11 is transliterated methodeia in the Greek. From this we get our word method. If the devil is our adversary as 1 Peter 5:8 says, it stands to reason he will attack us … he will have a plan of attack – a scheme, a strategy. And his strategy is to get to your mind … to lull you into mediocrity … to blunt the edge of your thinking … to cloud your reasoning.”

Pastor Swindoll tells the rest of the story of the attack on Pearl Harbor: “Of the eighteen U.S. warships sunk or damaged at Pearl Harbor, thirteen were repaired to later launch a counterattack on the Japanese fleet. Of the six aircraft carriers from that Japanese strike force, four were sunk 180 days later in the Battle of Midway, and only a single destroyer survived the war. The war ended 1,364 days after it started … on the deck of a U.S. battleship – not in Pearl Harbor, but in Tokyo Bay. In the past, Satan may have made some devastating strikes on your mind. But like the Pacific fleet, those thoughts can not only be restored but also mobilized in a counteroffensive against the enemy. Treasure God’s Word in your heart, and, thought by thought, the battle for your mind will be won.”

May we keep our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave His life for us on the cross of Calvary, so that we might be set free from the bondage of sin, empowered by the Holy Spirit to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives (Titus 2:12).

Scripture for the weekend: “The lamp of the Lord searches the spirit of a man; it searches out his inmost being.” Proverbs 20:27 (NIV)

Thought for the weekend: “Churches must recover the centrality and urgency of biblical teaching and preaching, and refuse to sideline the teaching ministry of the preacher. Pastors and churches too busy – or too distracted – to make biblical knowledge a central aim of ministry will produce believers who simply do not know enough to be faithful disciples.” – Dr. Albert Mohler

By His grace,

Steve
