which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Three Hundred & Sixty Five

September 6, 2018

Dear friends,

In last week’s blog post, I began to look at some motivating factors for missions. The first two items are to be converted and to be convinced that Jesus rose from the dead. Besides the fact that would-be thieves would have to get past Roman guards in order to get to the tomb, there are several other things that validate the resurrection of Jesus. In his Study Bible, Dr. David Jeremiah notes the following:

  • The seal – Matthew 27: 66 – the seal could be placed on the stone only in the presence of the Roman guards who were in charge. After the guards inspected the tomb and rolled the stone in place, a cord was stretched across the rock. This was fastened at either end with sealing clay. Then the clay packs were stamped with the official signet of the Roman governor. On Resurrection morning, the seal was broken because the stone had been removed from the opening of the tomb.
  • The stone – Mark 16:4 reads “But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away – for it was very large.” It has been described as “a stone which twenty men could not roll away.” It may have weighed 1.5 to 2 tons. John wrote: “… the stone had been taken away from the tomb” John 20:1. Who moved the stone? Matthew tells us: “…an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it” Matthew 28:2.
  • The sepulcher – Word of the Resurrection could not have been sustained for a single day if the empty tomb was not an established fact.
  • The shroud – the grave clothes were still in the tomb – John 20:3-8.
  • The scars – In John 20:20, when Jesus showed the disciples His hands and His side, they knew this was their Lord. Thomas wasn’t with them when Jesus came (v. 24), so he said to the disciples that he wouldn’t believe unless he saw Jesus’ scars for himself. Eight days later, after seeing the risen Christ, Thomas was convinced that Jesus rose from the dead. Thomas was transformed and went all the way to India to proclaim the Good News.
  • The sightings of Jesus are recorded in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. One writer has noted that if you brought all of these witnesses into a courtroom and gave them each six minutes to testify, you would have over 50 hours of testimony to the reality of the risen Christ. Dr. Frank Morrison wrote a book entitled “Who Moved the Stone?” after investigating the case for the resurrection. The first chapter is called “The Book that Refused to Be Written.”

The third factor in motivating us for missions is that we must be confident that the Bible is the Word of God. Ever since the first two people in history, Adam and Eve, walked in the Garden of Eden (see Genesis 2 and 3), God’s Word has been under attack. The devil twisted what God said to Adam and lied to Eve, who chose to disregard God’s Word and disobey God. Dr. Jeremiah writes: “If the Bible is inspired by God (and it is), and if it is impossible for God to lie (and it is), then it follows that the Bible is inerrant – in other words, the original manuscripts contained no errors. Scholars agree that, thanks to the abundance of ancient manuscripts that have been discovered, we can determine the reading of the original text with virtual certainty. And where there is a question about how the original text should read, those questions never arise in passages dealing with indispensable elements of the faith.” This month, children, teens and adults are returning to school. I remember seeing the letters of the alphabet written in upper and lower case above the blackboards in Morison School (my elementary school). Did you know that the letters of the Hebrew alphabet are identified in  Psalm 119? It is filled with declarations of the truth of the Word of God, including verse 160: “The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.” Just before going to the cross, the Lord Jesus prayed for His disciples and said to God the Father: “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” John 17:17. May we determine to study His Word and share it with others.

Scripture for the weekend: “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” Psalm 119:11 (NKJV)
Thought for the weekend: “The greatest legacy you can pass on to your children and grandchildren is not your money or the other material things you have accumulated in life. The greatest legacy you can pass on to them is the legacy of your character and your faith.” – Dr. Billy Graham (from his book “Nearing Home”)

By His grace,
