November 14, 2019Karen and I drove to Buffalo, NY last week to attend the annual Board of Directors meeting for Action Mondiale d’Évangélisation, the Québec incorporation of Global Outreach Mission. It was the 45th annual meeting and we thank the Lord for the many prayer partners and financial supporters that keep this ministry going. The radio programme “La Voix de l’Évangile” began in the studio of Back to the Bible Broadcast in Lincoln, Nebraska in April 1955, the month that I was born. Our radio evangelist, Pastor Michel Martel, began recording weekly messages for the broadcast in January 1984, a month before our first child was born. It is wonderful to reflect on milestones and see how the Lord has led.
A pastor friend, who recently joined an organization that ministers to people around the world, sent us an email this week about the unrest in Lebanon. After trusting in Christ as my Saviour when I was seventeen, I joined an evangelical church in Saint-Laurent (on the island of Montréal) and met several believers who immigrated from Egypt and Lebanon. One lady had lost the sight in one eye in a bombing.
Last Thursday, we saw many snow-covered trees along the highway in Ontario. On Monday, Remembrance Day, we were on the Highway of Heroes east of Toronto and saw the names of soldiers who gave their lives to preserve our freedom. This reminds us that the Lord Jesus gave His life on the cross of Calvary to provide us with life: now and forever. I didn’t realize that there is a group dedicated to planting 2 million trees in honour of the military in Canada. To learn about this, please visit: https://hohtribute.ca/. When we look at the trees that will be decorated for Christmas, let’s remember the supreme sacrifice that Christ Jesus made on the tree near Jerusalem 2,000 years ago.
