Dear friends,
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote that there is an article in this month’s edition of “Turning Points” magazine entitled “Bridging the Generation Gap.” When I took another look at Dr. David Jeremiah’s article today, I realized that it is entitled “Bridging the Generation Map.” I had written just one letter differently than the correct one, but it helped me think about how important it is to get the correct information when we read something or listen to someone.
After describing the first four of the nine generations that are part of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, Dr. Jeremiah describes the remaining five generations: Generation X (born 1965-1980), Generation Y (or millennials, born 1981-1996), Generation Z (born 1997-2009), Generation Alpha (born 2010-2024), and Generation Beta (born 2025-2039). Karen and I were blessed by the birth of our eighth grandchild yesterday and are eagerly awaiting news that our ninth grandchild will be born in the coming days.
While looking after one of our grandchildren today, we watched a movie called “The Rookie,” based on the life of Jimmy Morris, who pitched for two seasons in Major League Baseball. What was so remarkable is that he was older than most, if not all, of his teammates. His story is an inspiration to all who might get discouraged when their plans don’t get fulfilled as quickly as they would like. That reminds me of the saying “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again.” No matter what obstacles you and I are facing, let’s remember that God loves us with a love that is beyond what we can imagine.
Scripture for the weekend: “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 (NASB).
Thought for the weekend: “Because the majestic Lord of creation comes to judge and rule the world, all people should worship Him in fear and praise Him in holy array for His great salvation.” – Allen Ross.
By His grace,
Steve
