Aches and Praise Two Hundred & Sixty Three

Dear friends,

Last Saturday I had the privilege of attending a meeting with Denys Blackmore, the director of Every Home for Christ International/Canada, where he challenged pastors and others to distribute Christian literature in order to reach the many non-Christians in Quebec. Having been inspired to do this by George Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization, when I was a young Christian, this opportunity strikes me as a breath of fresh spiritual air from the Lord. Last month, 145,000 homes in the Quebec City area received booklets entitled “Trouver l’espoir” (“Finding the hope”). For more information about this ministry, please visit: http://www.ehc.ca/ and http://www.findingthehope.com/.

Before the meeting I spoke with Brother Blackmore and told him that when I visited the Canadian headquarters of EHC in Guelph in November 2009, the staff were praying for his recovery in the hospital after a head-on car crash while driving home from the Toronto airport. Denys told me that the driver of the other vehicle went through a stop sign and died in the accident. I can’t imagine the pain that Denys endured during his extensive physiotherapy.

Several people who are in contact with our ministry have requested prayer this week: Jimmy in Montreal North asks prayer for his daughter Michelle (pseudonym), Marie in Miami wrote that she is having difficulty sleeping and J.P. phoned to say that he is feeling better and would like to go to church on Sunday, after many weeks of feeling too weak to go. Our pastor’s wife, Melissa, is scheduled to meet with a specialist today after learning that she has a benign tumor sitting on a nerve that affects her balance and hearing. Please remember these people in prayer.

Last week, Pastor Michel Martel, the speaker of “La Voix de l’Évangile,” recorded seven messages entitled “Du conflit à la paix” (“From conflict to peace”) which will be aired on the network of nine radio stations as well as the Internet (https://www.lavoixdelevangile.ca/) in the coming months. Please pray that many listeners will trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and grow in His grace.

Scripture for the weekend: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)

Thought for the weekend: “The Christian message is for those who have done their best and failed!” – Unknown (from the New Women’s Devotional Bible, The Zondervan Corporation)

By His grace,

Steve
