Aches and Praise Two Hundred & Seventy One

Dear friends,

Thank you for your ongoing prayers for the ministry of radio evangelism and Bible teaching in Québec. While we were in Ottawa this past week, we were reminded of the importance of prayer, seeing how the Lord is using His Word and the prayers of His children to touch the lives of children, teens and adults around the world.

One of the missionaries that spoke at the men’s breakfast last Saturday was Rob “Mags” Magwood, who is the Canadian director of SEND International. Among the many things I learned from his message was the following: 61% of the world’s population live in Asia, compared to 6% in North America. He used the name “Mateo” as an acrostic in the following challenge:

M – Money – Are you able to give to send/support?

A – Abilities – What skills and talents can you contribute?

T – Time – Will you share this precious resource?

  1. Short-term – 1 week +
  2. Medium-term – 1 year +
  3. Long-term – 4 years +

E – Energy – also a precious commodity. Are you willing to share?

O – Opportunity – Will you allow the Lord to direct you?

Last month I wrote about a sermon that Karen and I heard when we visited Southdale Bible Chapel in London, Ontario. You can listen to this insightful message on the promises of God by Richard Haverkamp at: www.sbclondon.com

Yesterday Estelle (pseudonym) sent an email to our radio follow-up office in Châteauguay to request prayer as she is afflicted with a pulmonary disorder. On Monday I had the privilege of visiting J.P. in Montréal and Jimmy in Montréal-Nord. J.P. has been going through some difficult times with regard to his mental health, while Jimmy asks prayer for his grandson, who is struggling in school. Please pray that the Lord will help each of these dear ones.

Scripture for the weekend: “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’” 2 Corinthians 12:9a (NKJV)

Thought for the weekend:  “I’m convinced that when you are serving the Lord, there is never a question of sacrifice. It’s just doing what we are supposed to be doing for His glory. You don’t think of the sacrifice – you think of your mission.” – Harry Bollback (quoted in “Turning Points” magazine by Dr. David Jeremiah)

 By His grace,

 Steve
