Dear friends,
On my way home from work tonight, I passed a park where soccer teams had assembled. Family and friends gathered nearby, wearing coats like they were about to watch a hockey game, as temperatures hovered near the 10 degree Celcius mark. There is a hockey game scheduled for tonight – in Pittsburgh (indoors, of course). The unusually cool weather here is nothing compared to what residents of Fort McMurray, Alberta have faced in the past month, as wildfire forced thousands of people to flee their homes and places of employment. I received an encouraging email this week (which I will forward to you) about a church being at the centre of the relief effort.
Last week, I shared that Allan McGuirl, co-founder of Galcom International, requested prayer for a meeting that was scheduled for June 6th with officials of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in Ottawa. It turned out that the meeting was postponed, as some documents were not available in time for the meeting. Please continue to pray that a license would be granted for one of two available FM frequencies in order to establish a Christian station in Quebec City, with repeater stations across the province of Quebec.
Yesterday, I shared a few prayer requests regarding the ministry with supporting churches in Canada and the United States. It is wonderful to know that people are praying for the salvation and spiritual growth of French-speaking people and others in Quebec. Today I felt that people were also praying for our family. We found several items that were “missing” and felt a peace from the Lord.
With medical discoveries revealing more information about the complexity of the human body, it is mind-boggling that anyone would say that we are here by chance. Rather than valuing designer clothes, people should recognize the Designer of the universe and Maker of mankind. In looking up the expression “Life is fragile, handle with prayer” on the Internet, I found the following:
Life is fragile: Handle with prayer.
Remember that Jesus will always be there
To hear our problems and to gather our tears,
To calm the storms, and to settle the fears.
It does not matter how great or how small,
Jesus will answer to our every call.
Just call on the Lord, it matters not when-
He’s never on lunch, He can’t take a break;
If He did, this old world would just crumble and shake.
His lines are never busy, He won’t put you on hold.
He won’t ask you twice what He’s already been told.
There’s no account number, nor address to give;
Yes, the Lord always answers, He never leaves home.
He won’t leave us to handle it all on our own.
