Aches and Praise Three Hundred & Eighty Four

Dear friends,

Last Sunday, Karen and I attended a church that meets in the ministry house where our radio follow-up office is now located. The small group of people love the Lord and are keen to learn from pastors who have studied God’s Word for many years. We watched a video of a message by Pastor Craig Groeschel. Here is a link to this powerful message: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkYtkboME00

In “Wisdom to Discern,” Pastor Groeschel shows a video of him helping his son to learn to ride a bicycle, giving us a visual to help us better understand how God guides us, advises us, and watches over us. He shares insights from Scriptures by the following words: walk, ask and decide. First of all, we need to walk with the wise. One principle is “If you want wisdom from God, you have to spend time with God.”

In the past month, several friends have helped us in practical ways: moving, setting up equipment and repairing broken things. We also have been blessed by the brothers and sisters in our small group that met this week, after a “break” of more than a month. Karen and I are thankful for the friends that He has brought into our lives, including Ramona, who celebrated her birthday the day before yesterday. Karen found a funny card with a photo of two elderly ladies, with one saying to the other “Someday we’ll be two old ladies. You go first.” This was fitting as Ramona is six months older than Karen.

Scripture for the weekend: “How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.” Proverbs 16:16 (NASB)

Thought for the weekend: “Who can describe or measure the love of God? When we read of God’s justice, it is justice tempered with love. When we read of God’s righteousness, it is righteousness founded on love. When we read of God’s atonement for sin, it is atonement necessitated because of His love, provided by His love, finished by His love.” – Billy Graham (from his book “Where I Am”)

By His grace,

Steve
