Aches and Praise Six Hundred & One

Dear friends,

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and you may be wondering who Patrick was. You can read about this man of faith at: https://www.persecution.com/2021-03-st-patrick/

Thanks to the Internet, we can learn about men and women who proclaimed the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in the past, as well as those who are serving the Lord today. We can also see photographs of places like Israel, where so much of history has been made. In two months, the 75th anniversary of the founding of modern Israel will be commemorated. Dr. David Jeremiah, a pastor in San Diego, tells about what occurred on May 14, 1948 in his book “The Book of Signs.” We will look at that in May, should the Lord tarry.

When we search the Internet, we need to be careful that we don’t fall prey to false information. Just as we sometimes see road signs that are incorrect, we need to be discerning as we read articles online. More than ever, we need to study the Bible in order to know what God’s will is for us.

In “The Book of Signs” Dr. Jeremiah writes: “Jesus told us to keep our eyes open so that we are not fooled by the signs indicating that the end times are near. As we get closer to that time, many people are going to claim to be the Messiah and claim to have the answers for a troubled world. As the signs in this book unfold, it will be revealed that we can expect a period of international and cultural chaos with the possibility of ceaseless, unending, terrible war. It appears that we are already preparing for this period as worldwide arms development continues – currently there is at least one military weapon and several thousand pounds of explosives for every man, woman, and child on earth. Finally, there will be more and more disease and devastation. Even today, millions of people in the world are being afflicted by insufficient food, the spread of new diseases, antibiotic resistance, and the devastating effects of natural disasters.”

Having had some health challenges in the past year, I have learned to appreciate the expression “Take one day at a time.” As a child of God, I am grateful to the Lord for His amazing love. If you have never asked God’s forgiveness for your sins, I urge you to do so today. If you are a believer, may you be encouraged that God loves you with an everlasting love.

Scripture for the weekend: “But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.” Psalm 5:11(NKJV)

Thought for the weekend: “No one will master God’s Word in a lifetime of study, but we should learn all we can. We must make time, not ‘find time,’ to read and study the Word of God. Just as a machinist studies the shop manual, and the surgeon studies his medical texts, so the Christian must study the Word of God. Bible study is not a luxury; it is a necessity,” – Warren W. Wiersbe (from his book “The Strategy of Satan: How to Detect & Defeat Him”)

By His grace,

Steve
