Aches and Praise Five Hundred & Twenty Two

September 10, 2021

Dear friends,

In last week’s blog post, I wrote that I had received an email from friends in Winnipeg, informing me that their mothers had fallen and been in the hospital. On September 4, one of the mothers – Madeline Reimer – went to be with the Lord. She and her late husband, Clarence, founded an agency in 1959 to distribute radio programs of Christian ministries, including those of MissionGO (formerly Global Outreach Mission). There is a profound statement at the end of the online obituary of Clarence Reimer – https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/navin-mb/clarence-reimer-8154679 – “A marriage has ended but a family remains.” Please remember the Reimer family as they mourn the passing of Madeline.

As missionary representatives, Karen and I have the privilege of visiting many churches. It was on a trip with her parents in 1986 that we visited the Canadian office of Back to the Bible Broadcast in Winnipeg and met the Reimers, who had served in the headquarters of that ministry in Lincoln, Nebraska in the 1950s. A man who had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world began the radio program La Voix de lĒvangile (Voice of the Gospel) in 1955 in Lincoln. Not long after the Shellys moved from France to Québec in 1971, the Québec radio ministry began to touch the hearts of people across the province. If you would like to learn more about this ministry, please visit: www.lavoixdelevangile.ca.

In the September newsletter of Every Home for Christ International/Canada, Denys Blackmore writes: “A virus that is invisible to the naked eye has dramatically affected billions of people on every continent. The impact is felt by governments, businesses and people of all walks of life.

It reminds me of sin entering humanity. It has affected, and infected, everyone since. It has fractured and ruptured relationships of all sorts, but most importantly our relationship     with God. But thanks be to God, in His great love He sent Christ to bear the iniquities born of sin and provide healing for our souls.” Have you experienced the amazing love of God? If not, I urge you to read the Bible and ask God to forgive your sins. Trust in Christ as your personal Saviour and you will begin a journey that will take you to heaven.

Scripture for the weekend: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

Thought for the weekend: “I urge all who shall read this document to read and study the Scriptures daily and to trust only in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.” – Billy Graham, in his last will and testament

By His grace,

Steve
